Ballistic 出版公司现在开始EXPOSé 10 的征稿,艺术家可以开始提交自己的作品了。
(EXPOSé系列是数字艺术界最负盛名的年度出版物,收录了来自世界各个地方的优秀作品。)
(Ballistic 出版公司是专业出版数字图形艺术方面图书的出版机构。)

EXPOSé 10也是我们从事商业十周年盛大庆祝的一个重要部分。我们希望把它变成规模最大和最好的一届。入选EXPOSé 10的艺术家将会获得在电影,游戏和动画领域展示自己的重大机会。

作品可以是使用任何软件制作的2D或3D数字图形艺术作品。凡是2D的或是3D的数字艺术作品,不论是商业作品还是个人创作,我们都感兴趣。

就像Ballistic 出版公司奉献的所有出版物一样,如果艺术家的作品入选EXPOSé 10,他将收到一册EXPOSé 10图书,并且能享受到在世界首屈一指的数字艺术年鉴上宣传展示自己作品的机会。

投稿没有任何成本和限制。

EXPOSé 10候选美术作品的投稿截止日期为2012年3月15日(星期四)零时(格林尼治平均时,即北京时间2011年3月16日上午8点)     

即日起可开始上传!   

EXPOSé 10将在2012年7月全球发布。由于投稿截至之前收到的作品数量很多,为了避免可能会出现的技术故障和投稿问题,请已有完成作品的艺术家尽快投稿。


奖项设置

作品应兼具较高的艺术和技术水平,设置奖项的作品类别广泛。
设有金奖和银奖的类别有:

Grand Master Award
Grand Master awards an artist who has demonstrated an outstanding skill and contribution to the advancement of digital art in any area or style. Grand Master recognition may also be given for any category if there is an outstanding entry that warrants this highest level of recognition.
大师奖
最高荣誉的奖项,为了表彰对数字艺术做出杰出贡献的各个领域及各类风格突出的艺术家而设立。同时也授予在其类别有杰出作品的艺术家。

Abstract & Design
Recognizes the most outstanding image that is abstract or predominantly abstract (fractal-generated, 3D or 2D). Here, the artist’s design and artistic expression are paramount in creating a piece of artwork that defies categorization and excels in its pure design and visual appeal.
抽象和设计类
出色的抽象或以抽象为主的图像(3D、2D都可)。作品要打破局限,突出纯设计和视觉感染力。

Architecture (Exterior)
Awards the best exterior architectural visualization, independent of style, or setting. The category will test the artist’s ability to create a commercial or residential space that is not just believable (lighting, scale and perspective), but inspirational and evokes a desire to visit the location/building/space.
建筑类(户外)
只看重户外视觉效果,不注重风格或布置。不仅要看起来真实,还要有创意,要能激起人们前往居住、开展商业活动或者去那个地方一游的愿望。

Architecture (Interior)
Honors the best interior architectural visualization of a commercial, or residential space, independent of style, or setting. The judging criteria for the category is the artist’s ability to create an interior setting that is not just functional, but also believable (lighting, scale and perspective).
建筑类(室内)
只看重室内视觉效果,不注重风格或布置。要有真实感且实用。

Concept Art
Recognizes the highest achievement in bringing a concept into being, whether for a movie, TV, or game environment. The defining criteria for this category is to convey a sense of place or personality. Technical skill, composition, color palette, and mood will all contribute to an entry’s success.
概念美术类
把概念应用到实际,如电影、电视、游戏等。主要看作品所传达的空间感和个性。技术水平,结构,色彩、氛围都会作为评价标准。

Warriors & Conflict
Recognizes the best examples of heroic characters and epic battles, showcasing warriors of the past and future at work. The judging criterion for this category is the artist’s ability create heroic characters and epic confrontations. Technical skill and composition are crucial to success.
战士和战斗类
作品应充分体现出战士的特性和战争场面的宏大。可以是古代,也可以是未来战士。评判主要看重英雄形象的塑造和战争场面的构图。
技术水平和创造力都是评价的重要标准。

Environment
Honors the best landscape or location (indoors, outdoors, underwater, or in space). The artist’s ability to evoke a sense of wonder and a wish to see more is paramount. This category demands a combination of artistic interpretation, detail, and lighting to create a believable and evocative environment.
环境类
可以是室内、室外、水下甚至太空等地点的风景。艺术家营造一个神奇的环境或一种引人入胜的感觉,这种能力相当重要。要求作品体现综合艺术表现力,运用对细节和光线的处理来营造一个可信和令人向往的环境。

Fantasy
Recognizes the highest achievement in the mythic fantasy style from traditional fantasy creatures to heroic characters and dragons. Here, the artist’s talent in evoking an emotional response or attachment with the image is paramount. The artist’s ability to place their characters in an unfolding story is also crucial.
幻想类
范围可以从传统的虚构的生物到英雄人物,或者龙。作品应能引起观众强烈的共鸣。所创造的形象应该能放到一个故事中。

Fantasy Femmes
Awards the most outstanding examples of character creation in the fantasy style from elves and nymphs to heroic femmes. Here, the artist’s ability to breathe life into fantastic characters is paramount. Technical skill, composition, and emotional resonance will all play a major role in successful entries.
幻想类女性角色
作品应该是虚构的人物,可以是精灵、女神、女英雄等。要让虚构的形象生动起来。技法和创造力都是重要的评价标准。

Futurescapes
Recognizes the greatest talent in realizing a cityscape or civilization. The defining criteria for this category is the artist’s ability to create a city which entices the viewer. It demands a combination of artistic interpretation, detail, and lighting. Technical skill, believability, composition, and mood are also crucial factors.
未来类
描绘一个城市或者一种文明。要注重艺术理解力、细节和光线的处理。
技能、写实性、构图和氛围都会作为评价标准。

Humorous
Recognizes the most amusing image, whether 2D or 3D, cartoon, humorous, satirical, or just plain ridiculous. The judging criteria is all about making the viewer smile or even laugh out loud. In addition to humor, it is also crucial that the artist demonstrates technical mastery of character or creature design.
幽默类
有趣诙谐的3D或2D作品。卡通、幽默、讽刺或者只是荒唐皆可。除了趣味性还要求艺术家有熟练的艺术形象设计能力。

Matte Painting
Honors the artist’s ability to create a compelling stage upon which an epic story can be told. The judging criteria for this category is to create a landscape or space where depth, scale, and atmosphere are all well-executed. Technical skill, composition, and mood are also crucial elements.
接景类
创作一个用以讲述史诗般故事的舞台。作品要很好的处理深度、比例、和氛围。技能、构图和情绪表达都是很重要的因素。

Portrait (Painted)
Recognizes the greatest talent in bringing a character to life, independent of style, or nature of the character. The defining criteria for this category is the ability that the artist demonstrates in breathing life into the subject. This encompasses technical skill, believability, composition, and importantly, emotion.
肖像类(二维)
生动、独特或者自然地表现一个角色。作品一定要形象生动。除技法外,还需注意作品的可信度和创造力。重中之重是情感表达。

Portrait (Rendered)
Honors the greatest talent in bringing a 3D character to life. The defining criteria for this category is the ability that the artist demonstrates in bringing the subject to life, particularly with texturing and lighting. Successful entries will encompass technical skill, believability, composition, and, most of all, emotion.
肖像类(三维)
创作一个生动形象的3D人物,要特别注意材质和光线。除了技法外,还需注意作品的可信度、创造力。重中之重是情感表达。

Product design
& Still Life Awards the best examples of still life and product designs that demonstrate excellence in technical design and execution. The judging criteria for this category is a combination of the intricacy of the design and the technical excellence of the modeling, texturing, and lighting.
产品设计和静物类
优秀的设计和很强的可实现性。将从设计的复杂程度,模型、材质和光线的运用来评价。

Robotic/Cyborg
Recognizes the greatest talent in bringing a mechanical or cyborg character into existence. The defining criterion is the artist’s ability to create a believable being either totally mechanical, or a composite of organic being and machine. This encompasses technical skill, believability, composition, and emotion.
机器人/改造人
创作一个可信的生物或者机械形象,也可以是生物和机械的结合体。将从技能水平、可信度、创造力和感情表达来评判。

Science Fiction
Awards the greatest talent in creating a believable environment or character with hints of its origins in the not too-distant past. The defining criteria for this category is the artist’s ability to create an environment or character which though familiar, appears otherworldly, and technologically advanced.
科幻类
以不太遥远的过去为发端,创作出可信的环境或角色。评判标准包括艺术家创造环境及角色的能力,既让人感到熟悉,也兼顾表现异世界和技术的发达。

Steampunk
This category honors the highest achievement in creating alternate Victorian-era realities where steam-powered technology is the height of progress. The defining criterion is the artist’s ability to create scenes which though anchored in an alternate past, appeared technologically advanced.
蒸汽朋克类
描绘一个架空的维多利亚时代,蒸汽动力是那个世界最先进的科技。艺术家要基于架空的过去来创作,表现出科技的进步。

Storytelling
Recognizes the best examples of visual narrative regardless of genre. The judging criterion is the artist’s ability to entice the viewer into an unfolding story. Successful entries will encompass technical skill, mood, composition, and, most of all, a strong narrative.

叙事性的作品,体裁不限。作品要能把观众吸引到故事中去。除技法、感情表达、和创造力,最重要的是应有很强的故事性。

Transport
Recognizes the best vehicle for moving about in. Whether exotic vehicle, vintage aircraft, or futuristic oceangoing vessel, this category seeks out the best examples of transportation. The defining quality will be the artist’s ability to capture and evoke the desire to travel to a place, or by a mode of transport.
交通工具类
可以是异类的车辆、古老的飞机、甚至是未来的远洋舰。作品应该能激发人们乘坐的冲动。

Whimsical
Awards the best examples of artwork with a lighthearted feel or in a style that conveys childlike themes. The criteria for this category is very similar to Humorous with technical mastery of character or creature design a must. Most Whimsical entries would be ideally suited as illustrations for children’s books.
怪诞类
作品感觉应是轻松愉快的,或是表达孩童般感觉的主题。评价标准与幽默类相似,要掌握人物或生物角色设计的技巧。怪诞类的稿件最好是能作为童书插图的作品。

Wildlife
Recognizes the greatest talent in bringing a real creature to life. Unlike fantasy creatures, familiarity with the subject matter is central to success. The defining criterion is the artist’s ability to breath life into a believable or stylized living creature. This encompasses technical skill, believability, and
野生动物类

You can only submit images by FTP. Please read carefully below regarding the format of the images - as it is vital that you submit images with a high enough resolution.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ There is no problem in entering professional work that is really all yours. You must have written clearance from your 'client' to enter work if you are not the copyright holder of the work.

Captions

All entries must be accompanied by a descrioption of the image, and the medium or software used. Details are on the entry form.

Image Size and Format

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ Image dimensions should be print resolution (as large as you can possibly render). Do not send in a low-resolution placeholder and ask us to get back to you, as we won't.

A guideline is 2657 pixels wide and/or 3636 high, 300 DPI (portrait), or 3636 pixels wide and/or 2657 pixels high, 300 DPI (landscape). Your image aspect ratio and layout will dictate the final resolution. These are given as guidelines. To be safe, render images that are larger than these specified

Image Preparation
图像准备
We are striving to make this publication feature the highest quality collection of art ever created. To do this we need you to submit the best quality images that you can make. Here are some general notes that may help you improve the quality of your images for print.
我们致力于让本书以艺术出版的最高水平呈现出来。为此你提交的图像必须是你能提供的最好质量。以下是一些准则,可帮助你提高图像质量以备印刷之需。

1. You should feel free to "hand edit" your images as much as you like. 3D renders should be viewed as if they were raw photographs -- they should be hand edited, colour corrected, sharpened, and edited to improve their quality as much as you can.
你应该尽可能“手工编辑”图像。3D渲染作品应该被视作初始照片——应经过手动编辑,色彩校正,锐化,还要尽你所能提高画面质量。

2. Monitor gamma and colour settings vary considerably. We will be reviewing all images on a standard system that is representative of most computer systems and is also optimised for print reproduction.

We will be reviewing and preparing all images on a monitor with sRGB colour response and a gamma of 2.2.

We have provided a monitor calibration image (colour calibrate gamma 2_2.jpg) to help you set up your monitor. You MUST display this image at 100% in a program that does NOT alter the gamma (not Photoshop). We have provided the image as a 100% quality JPG image so that you can view it in any web browser.

You should adjust you monitor controls so that the difference between the solid and dithered areas are minimal. Ideally you should be able to make all the solid squares match the surrounds -- however this is not possible on most monitors in which case you should adjust your monitor so that most of the mid range is matched. You should sit back from the monitor and squint to blur your vision to best judge the match.

You should do all adjustments on your monitor if you can. If you have a choice you should not adjust your graphics card gamma or any other software controls unless you have an ATI Raedon, NVIDIA FX or other card with FLOATING POINT display buffer. The reason for this is that there is just not enough resolution in 8 bits (24 bit RGB graphics buffer) to permit adjustment of gamma response without seriously degrading the shadow detail.

3. Do not convert your image to CMYK and do not over-sharpen it for print. We will be applying CMYK conversions and other filters that are optimal for the print process we have chosen. It is probable that we will be employing the most recent direct to plate and stochastic screen processes for printing. You should concentrate on providing images that look excellent on screen and let us perform the optimal preparation for print.

Q: How do artists benefit?

A: Ballistic Publishing’s goal is to promote digital artists. Artists who are successful in being selected for a Ballistic book receive substantial international exposure to potential employers, fans and their peers. We're very proud of the testimonials and feedback from featured artists as they have received the recognition and opportunities that their talents richly deserve. Many of these artists have already worked on exciting game and film projects for major studios. We also track the number of artists being featured in Ballistic books for the first time which is between one third and one half of entries which shows that we are constantly promoting new artists to the community. Artist promotion also extends beyond publication of the book with feature articles on many artists appearing on The CGSociety site, and artists also working on other Ballistic book titles.

Q: Do artists get a royalty?

A: While other Ballistic Publishing authored books pay royalties to authors, compilations like EXPOSé, EXOTIQUE, and ELEMENTAL, do not and cannot pay call for entry artists for the non-exclusive right to show their images. It has been calculated that the total potential royalty per artist turns out to be similar in cash value to a book, which we give all artists including shipping. The benefits of free entry, a free book and representation to the worldwide CG industry far outweigh any objections raised which is why our Call for Entries for individual books have attracted up to 7,000 entries.

Q: So if artists don't get a royalty, what renumeration do they get?

A: Artists accepted into EXPOSé 9 are given a free copy of the book when it is published (shipping and handling fees paid for), with the option of a copy of the Special Artist's Edition (leather bound) collectors book at a heavily discounted price.

Q: Can I send you a CD with all my images on it?

A: No. Please use the online submission system.

上传步骤





















注意!对于不支持网页上传的浏览器,可以使用FTP工具上传。方法如下:打开FTP客户端。以FileZilla Client为例。参照上图,分别填入主机(server),用户名(login),密码(password)信息。端口不用填。选择你准备上传的文件, 点击右键选择 上传 选项。即可开始上传。上传完成后,返回网站页面。点击 Edit Entries,即可看到上传的作品
